Lydia is a solutions-oriented legal professional with over 18 years’ experience at top-tier Toronto-based law firms. She has significant experience in a breadth of business law areas, with particular expertise in all manners of commercial leasing law, representing both landlords and tenants in connection with retail, office and industrial leases. Her clients comprise large corporations, mid-sized operations and small business, alike.
In 2022, Lydia represented popular hamburger joint, “The Real McCoy” who had their lease improperly terminated to make way for a condo development. She helped the long-standing business, that had become a staple in Scarborough, make sure they could continue doing business in the community.
Called to the bar in 2006, Lydia has gained extensive knowledge of the commercial leasing market and industry standards for lease drafting and negotiation. She routinely works with real estate brokerages to structure deals and facilitate leasing transactions in a manner that affords her clients the best possible documentation. Lydia is also a regular speaker at real estate industry events and a routine contributor to various commercial leasing publications.
In addition to her leasing work, Lydia also handles a variety of corporate/commercial matters, such as business set-up, shareholders agreements, employment/independent contractor agreements, non-disclosure agreements, supply and distribution agreements and licensing and franchise arrangements. With respect to her information technology practice, Lydia also possesses significant experience with privacy law and has drafted numerous privacy policies, terms of use and internal privacy procedural documentation for clients. Additionally, Lydia served as Chief Privacy Officer at Goldman Sloan Nash and Haber, where she worked for 12 years.
