As the summer comes to an end I’m grateful for the beautiful weather we’ve had, the opportunity to re-charge, and most importantly, the time I’ve been able to spend with family and friends. As my son gets older (he turns 9 this year) I’m confronted with the fact that there are only so many summers that I’ll have the chance to spend with him and that I’d better make the most of the time we have together.
This summer we spent time at our family cottage in the Kawarthas, took in a couple of Blue Jays game, and made a much anticipated visit to Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios. Maybe the most fulfilling experience for me though was coaching my son’s baseball team to a second championship in as many years. There’s something really special about watching a group of kids achieve something they worked hard for all summer.
But as Labour Day approaches and our kids prepare to head back to school, I’m reminded of the responsibilities that await me at work. Q3 and Q4 targets to meet, 2025 planning to complete, and a host of other priorities that will inevitably get in their way.
However I’m also reminded that the work we do at CEO Law is intended to allow others in our industry – from General Counsel to Sole Practitioners – the ability to focus more of their time on the things that matter most to them both at and away from the office. For me, that’s an outcome to get excited about.
This summer we offered our clients 2 weeks worth of legal support at significantly discounted rates with the hopes that it would allow them the opportunity to manage vacation schedules in a way that wouldn’t compromise their business goals. Feedback from clients was positive, so we intend to make these kinds of offers available more permanently.
While our responsibilities at work are extremely important, we are committed to supporting our clients in a way that lets them stay on track at the office without compromising family life.
I hope everyone had as wonderful a summer as I did, and if you didn’t because work got in the way, I hope we can find a way to make sure that doesn’t happen again. After all, hockey season is right around the corner!
Here’s to a successful and fulfilling end to 2024! If there’s ever anything I can do to help business, legal or otherwise, please reach out or connect with me anytime.
