Darius Djawadi is an experienced senior legal counsel based in Toronto, Ontario, with a proven track record of supporting and guiding start-ups through various stages of their growth. In addition to his legal expertise, he is also an entrepreneur who co-owns and operates companies within various sectors and industries. This dual perspective has allowed Darius to offer unique and practical solutions, blending his legal knowledge with real-world business experience. Darius is excited to be onboarding with the board of advisors at the Morrissette Institute for Entrepreneurship, powered by the Ivey Business School, in the fall. As a member of the board of advisors, he will lend his expertise, guidance, and support to help the institute achieve its vision of fostering entrepreneurship and innovation at Western University.
For nearly a decade, Darius has also been a pillar in the Greater Toronto Area’s vibrant SMB community. His expertise encompasses a wide range of legal areas, including Business Organization, Civil Litigation, Employment Law, Wills & Estates, Family Law, Immigration, Criminal Law, and Regulatory Law. His roles have been diverse, extending from running his own law firm to serving as an in-house legal advisor for various consultancies, immigration agencies, manufacturing, and various other organizations. In these capacities, he has gained substantial experience in contract drafting and negotiation, risk mitigation and strategy, case management, marketing, and human resource management. In addition to his solicitor work, Darius has significant experience in white-collar litigation and regulatory legal matters. This expertise was honed early in his career, first as an articling student with Edward Greenspan’s firm and later as a Partner at MacGregor Moriah Horic. His work has encompassed both corporate and personal liability matters.
Beyond his professional endeavours, Darius is deeply committed to community service. He actively supports various non-for-profit organizations and has held board and advisory and board positions within Toronto’s non-profit sector.
